  • Chandigarh, Mar 13–The Haryana Chief Minister, Mr Manohar Lal, has said that two more cases of land acquisition during the Congress regime have been handed over to the CBI for investigation.
  • Replying to the questions of media persons here today, the Chief Minister said the former Chief Minister, Mr. Bhupinder Singh Hooda, should have the courage and honesty to admit to wrong-doing, and refrain from labelling the probe as a political conspiracy. There is no one, including those dear to them, whom the Congress has not cheated; they have not even spared the people of Rohtak district, he added.
  • Two other cases of land acquisition during the Congress rule which have been handed over to CBI include Uddar Gagan of Rohtak and three villages namely, Nangal, Aterna and Sersa of Sonepat. Land measuring 885 acres of these villages was to be acquired. But the question arises why land measuring 650 acres was released.
  • The Chief Minister said now this case had been handed over to CBI and action would be taken on the basis of its findings. .
  • Referring to the Dhingra Commission report, Mr Manohar Lal said the Advocate General of Haryana had given an undertaking in the high court not to make this report public, and the Supreme Court had directed the high court to dispose of this case within a period of two months. Action would be taken as per recommendations.
  • On the Pehowa audio tape incident, the Chief Minister disagreed with the Opposition stand and said, “As per procedure, first an inquiry would be conducted and an FIR would be registered against those found guilty.”
  • Hammering home the point, Mr Manohar Lal gave the example of two cases, one each during the Chautala and Hooda Governments. IAS officer Sanjeev Kumar had filed a petition in the Supreme Court after which investigation was conducted. After the investigation, FIR was registered. Similarly during the Congress regime, in the case of Mr. Karan Dalal regarding organic manure of Panipat, investigation was conducted first and action was taken later, he added.
