  • Chandigarh, Mar 13 – Haryana Parliamentary Affairs Minister, Mr. Ram Bilas Sharma said that in order to develop Hisar Aerodrome as International Airport, a three phase plan has been prepared including domestic airport under the Regional Connectivity Scheme in Phase-I, Small scale MRO, Fixed base operations, Defence Manufacturing and Defence MRO in Phase-II and Aerospace Manufacturing, Aviation Training Centre and Aviation University, International Airport, Aerotropolis - Commercial and Residential in Phase–III.
  • The Minister was replying to a question regarding the proposal to develop Hisar Aerodrome as International Airport, in the ongoing budget session of Vidhan Sabha, here today.
  • He said that an international consultant, M/s Frost and Sullivan was engaged in March 2016 to get a feasibility study regarding development of an integrated aviation hub including an international airport at Hisar. Apart from this, an Expression of Interest was floated on February 17, 2017 and a meeting was held with interested parties to gauge interest and obtain feedback.
  • Mr. Sharma said that a piece of land measuring 4200 acres contiguous to the existing airstrip has been identified. A meeting under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary was held on June 30, 2017 in which all relevant departments agreed to transfer land to Civil Aviation Department. Apart from this, discussion on the proposal for site clearance in meeting of Steering Committee of Ministry of Civil Aviation was held on May 2, 2017. A MoU was signed between Union Ministry of Civil Aviation, Government of Haryana and Airports Authority of India on July 7, 2017. For this purpose, it was decided to strengthen or upgrade the existing 4,000 feet airstrip for UDAN scheme.
  • The Minister said that planning of other works to be executed included passenger terminal building being remodelled for approximately 50 pax, resurfacing of existing 1220x45 meter airstrip of LCN 20, expansion of existing taxi track and construction of new taxi track, new apron 380x90 meter for ATR parking, boundary wall repair and security audit by BCAS, ATC building enhancement for ATS services Tower Frequency 122.5 MHz, up-gradation of fire fighting equipment and training of state police in aviation related duties by BCAS.
  • He said that a decision was taken in the meeting held between Haryana Chief Minister and Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways at New Delhi on December 22, 2017, that the Central Government would examine the feasibility of converting the existing four land national highway between New Delhi and Hisar into a six lane controlled access expressway. Apart from this, it was decided in a meeting held between Chief Minister and Union Minister of Railways at New Delhi on December 29, 2017, that the work for direct rail connectivity between New Delhi and Hisar would be expedited and appropriately strengthened to accommodate super fast trains.
