  • Chandigarh, May 16- Haryana Minister of State for Food and Supplies, Mr Karan Dev Kamboj said that the state government has broken all records of wheat procurement. Haryana has scaled a new all-time high peak in wheat procurement. This year, more than 87.27 lakh metric tonnes of wheat has been procured so far, which is highest since the inception of the state.
  • Mr Kamboj said that this time, the state government has given the farmers highest Minimum Support Price of Rs 1,735 per quintal for wheat. In the present government, 74.25 lakh metric tonnes of wheat was procured last year, while in 2013-14, only 58.86 lakh metric tonnes of wheat was procured.
  • He said that after the present government took over the reins, the minimum support price for wheat has increased every year. This year, district Sirsa recorded the highest wheat procurement of over 12.03 lakh metric tonnes, followed by district Karnal with over 9.20 lakh metric tonnes of wheat, whereas district Panchkula has recorded the lowest wheat procurement of 50,023 metric tonnes, he added.
